The Duke's son

Romance

Page 1

The air in London was thick with tension as protesters marched through the streets.

The year was 2023, and the government's new immigration reforms had sparked outrage and mass demonstrations across the city. As Layla Massif made her way through the throngs of people, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She was a Syrian refugee, and the uncertainty of her future in the UK weighed heavily on her mind.

Layla had fled her home country four years earlier, escaping the violence and chaos that had engulfed the region. She had been living in London ever since, trying to build a new life for herself. But now, with the government's new policies threatening to upend everything she had worked for, Layla was more lost and afraid than ever.

As she approached the immigration office, Layla's heart raced with anticipation and dread. She had no idea what her fate would be. Would she be granted asylum, or would she be deported back to Syria, where her life would be in danger? The uncertainty was unbearable.

Meanwhile, Charles Brandon, the son of an English duke, was making his way to a private club near Westminster to meet his father. He was aware of the protests, but he didn't pay them much attention. As a member of the aristocracy, Charles had never had to worry about the same issues that troubled Layla and the other protesters.

But as he walked down the street, Charles suddenly found himself caught up in the crowd. He was jostled and pushed as people surged around him, and he stumbled, nearly falling to the ground. It was then that he collided with Layla, who had been pushed in the opposite direction.

The impact sent them both sprawling to the pavement, and for a moment, they lay there, stunned. When they finally got to their feet, they looked at each other with a mixture of confusion and anger.

"I'm sorry," Charles said, offering Layla a hand to help her up.

Layla hesitated for a moment before taking his hand, and as he helped her to her feet, she felt a strange jolt of electricity pass between them. It was a feeling she had never experienced before, and it left her momentarily disoriented.

As they dusted themselves off, Charles and Layla couldn't help but notice each other's appearance. Charles was tall and handsome, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. Layla was petite and beautiful, with long, curly black hair and warm brown eyes. They were both struck by the other's attractiveness, and for a moment, they forgot about the chaos that surrounded them.
