James

Page 1

Taylor Everdeen sat at her desk in the heart of Sydney's Central Business District, staring at her computer screen. As an assistant at PayMe, Australia's leading fintech company, she was used to working long hours and taking on multiple tasks at once. However, on this particular Tuesday afternoon, she found herself distracted.

Her eyes kept flicking between the various tabs on her computer screen and the apple store filled with dating apps. It wasn't that Taylor was unhappy with her life – she had a great job, a supportive group of friends, and a comfortable apartment in the city. But as a 30-year-old single woman, she couldn't help feeling like something was missing.

As she glanced up at the clock, Taylor realized that her boss, James Coleman, would be arriving any minute. James was one of the most successful and eligible bachelors in Sydney, with a net worth of over $2 billion and a reputation for being both charming and elusive. Taylor had been working as his assistant for nearly two years, and she couldn't deny that she found him attractive.

She quickly closed the dating app on her phone and refocused on her work. As soon as James walked in, he greeted her with a warm smile and a nod, and Taylor couldn't help feeling a flutter in her stomach.

"Good afternoon, Taylor. How's everything going?"

"Great, thanks," she replied, trying to sound casual. "Just waiting for my tasks for the week."

James nodded, his eyes briefly flicking over her before he turned his attention to the papers on his desk. As he began to outline his expectations for the week, Taylor tried to focus on taking notes and organizing her schedule. But she couldn't help feeling a sense of longing as she watched James move confidently around the room.

As the meeting drew to a close, James turned to her and said, "Oh, and Taylor, I need you to come with me to the investor meeting on Friday. We'll be meeting with some potential partners and I need your expertise on the presentation."

Taylor's heart skipped a beat. This was the first time James had ever asked her to attend a meeting with him, and she couldn't help feeling a sense of excitement.

"Of course, James. I'll make sure everything is ready."

As James left the room, Taylor took a deep breath and tried to push aside her thoughts and feelings. She was a professional, after all, and she couldn't let her personal life interfere with her work.
